Indie animator Daniela Sherer on developing your own style

From the moment she took her first animation course as an undergrad at USC, Daniela Sherer was hooked. “I was immediately like, I have to take more classes like this,” she recalls with a smile.  Since then, she’s honed her craft further, earning a Masters in animation from Royal College of Art and creating an impressive portfolio that includes music videos, independent films, and a long list of commissions for clients like NPR, Cartoon Network, and Harvard – to name a few.

The future of Real Estate is video

When Danielle Lurie got her real estate license, her goal was make enough money to funnel into her true passion—film. In 2005, Danielle’s short In The Morning premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, and won nine film festivals including ‘Best Narrative Short’ at the Nashville Film Festival. In 2011, her short Intuition was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick. At the time, she chose to keep her dual careers as a filmmaker and rising star in New York City’s real estate industry completely separate. But three years ago, after joining Compass and forming her all-women, eponymous team, Danielle began shooting short drone videos to promote her listings and popular neighborhoods. Allowing her experiences as a filmmaker and an agent to inform each other has led to unexpected success. “When you work in real estate, you tell a love story about the city that you live in, and a story about the notion of home in general,” Danielle explains. “I’m really excited to bring renegade filmmaking to real estate.”

For In-depth Research Problems found a very Simple Solution! Dunia!

I have been in the online media space for one and half decades. What always bugged me from the start is, how difficult it is to gain access to authentic information from good sources in the World Wide Web. Even today that is! Search (SERP) results are decided by AI Algorithms and SEO, so effectively, we the people of the world, miss out on good content from good sources which are not SERP optimized.

To tackle this problem, I decided to create this universal Research Gateway called “Dunia”. Dunia means “The World”/”The Universe” in Hindi. At “Dunia”, you can access the top resources by searching directly side by side, and then compare the results. Like say Wikipedia or TED or say Britannica and many vertical resources you can search like that. What more, you can actually search the resources from the same page in an organised manner. So please take www.Dunia.co for a test drive! Check out how efficient it can make you in your online research objectives! The best part about Dunia is, it’s not AI driven. Fortunately!

I have personally made a choice for each resource that I have included at Dunia. And now I can search them side by side. This is where my research starts everyday now. And I am willing share my research tool with you for Free 🙂! Enjoy!

HOW WORDPRESS SITES GET HACKED AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT?

As a first line of defense, adhere to the following best practices for WordPress login information:

  • Frequently change your passwords (seriously, put a reminder in your calendar now)
  • Avoid using the admin username (which used to be the default in older WordPress versions and is therefore often targeted first)
  • Create a strong password (either via an external service or the password strength meter included in WordPress)
  • Oblige other users to do the same with Force Strong Passwords
  • Store passwords in a secure place like LastPass

Apart from that, you can further up your login security with the following methods:

  • Limit login attempts — Plugins like Login LockDown and Login Security Solution enable you to constrain the number of login attempts from a single IP address within a certain amount of time. Perfect for keeping brute force attacks at bay.
  • Employ two-step authentication — Adds a second layer of security that can only be passed by means of your cell phone, social network account or else. Options include Duo Two-Factor Authentication, OpenID, and Clef.
  • Hide your login page — Moving wp-admin and wp-login to non-standard addresses makes it harder for hackers to attack them. You can do so via Rename wp-login.php, HideLogin+ or Lockdown WP Admin.

o Start with the backup first using plugin Updraftplus, save the files to your server and offsite (PC if no offsite area).
o Next do your WordPress core update (Home>Updates) to bring WordPress up to date
o followed by your plugins and translations updates. Do the updates one by one in case they fail so you know which one failed and can investigate and fix.
o This will leave your theme updates to do. For your live theme, check out the changes that will be applied by researching the theme developers update info so you know what will change. Also note any changes you have made to the theme files as these will be overwritten during the theme update. When you have updated your live theme, reapply your changes to the code and test the website to ensure it still functions and looks the same. Fix any issues.
Btw, a child theme should be used rather than editing themes but life isn’t always so black and white.
o Once you are all up-to-date, take another backup with Updraftplus.
o Migrate the site using the pro version of Updraftplus or a free plugin such as Duplicator.
Good luck.
