You know the drill. Choose a unique concept, make a shiny new video, then post it on social. But how do you make sure your people actually engaging with your latest project? The good news is, if you’re posting video at all, you’re already ahead of the game. In a recent study that asked marketers to compare engagement rates between images and videos, 59% found that video drove the most engagement on Facebook. (A marketer in the same study saw a 47% jump in CTR with video ads compared to static ads. Dang.)
Impactful video ads meet people where they are. So it’s important to make them easy to grasp, aesthetically pleasing, and geared to the social platforms we interact with every day. Creating a quality video ad with a micro-crew (even on a micro-budget) is easier — and more of a necessity — than ever. But remember: it’s a battleground of digital content out there. Your ad has to stand out.
There aren’t many direct-to-consumer brands shipping products that live and breathe. Which is why Bloomscape, an eCommerce houseplant shop based in Michigan, has such a unique responsibility. The company continuously delights its customers (aka “plant parents”) with cheerful, high-quality videos, ranging from plant care education to sunny tours of the company greenhouse.

When Danielle Lurie got her real estate license, her goal was make enough money to funnel into her true passion—film. In 2005, Danielle’s short In The Morning premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, and won nine film festivals including ‘Best Narrative Short’ at the Nashville Film Festival. In 2011, her short Intuition was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick. At the time, she chose to keep her dual careers as a filmmaker and rising star in New York City’s real estate industry completely separate. But three years ago, after joining Compass and forming her all-women, eponymous team, Danielle began shooting short drone videos to promote her listings and popular neighborhoods. Allowing her experiences as a filmmaker and an agent to inform each other has led to unexpected success. “When you work in real estate, you tell a love story about the city that you live in, and a story about the notion of home in general,” Danielle explains. “I’m really excited to bring renegade filmmaking to real estate.”

NGROK ngrok exposes local servers behind NATs and firewalls to the public internet over secure tunnels.
How it works

For In-depth Research Problems found a very Simple Solution! Dunia!
I have been in the online media space for one and half decades. What always bugged me from the start is, how difficult it is to gain access to authentic information from good sources in the World Wide Web. Even today that is! Search (SERP) results are decided by AI Algorithms and SEO, so effectively, we the people of the world, miss out on good content from good sources which are not SERP optimized.
To tackle this problem, I decided to create this universal Research Gateway called “Dunia”. Dunia means “The World”/”The Universe” in Hindi. At “Dunia”, you can access the top resources by searching directly side by side, and then compare the results. Like say Wikipedia or TED or say Britannica and many vertical resources you can search like that. What more, you can actually search the resources from the same page in an organised manner. So please take www.Dunia.co for a test drive! Check out how efficient it can make you in your online research objectives! The best part about Dunia is, it’s not AI driven. Fortunately!
I have personally made a choice for each resource that I have included at Dunia. And now I can search them side by side. This is where my research starts everyday now. And I am willing share my research tool with you for Free 🙂! Enjoy!

As part of On2’s acquisition by Google, Wildform, working with Google, released the first video encoder that used the new WebM video format. In addition to creating consumer software, I also licensed Wildform’s technology to leading companies such as Sony, Quark, Autodesk, and Adobe.

I am very inspired by creative podcasts. Entertaining guests and the unscripted nature of the conversations make me feel like I am right there, chatting about world affairs or the deep societal transformations of the connected age. I decided to start my own show with a group of friends — loosely about blogging, but delving into all sorts of things. It took three hours, with a total cost of $5/month, including our own domain name. In this post, I’ll share my journey of launching a brand-new podcast on WordPress.com, and later promoting it on iTunes and Spotify.

The WordPress app on your Android or iOS device is your companion wherever you go. Manage your site, write and publish, and even add images to your posts — from anywhere you are. Do you have a blog? If so, then it’s important that you acknowledge and appreciate blog readability. Put simply, the term “readability” speaks to how easy or enjoyable something is to read. In the digital age, having an online portfolio to showcase your work is a must. A portfolio is a show-and-tell for professionals. Today, Global Accessibility Awareness Day, raises awareness around digital access and inclusion and improving the web experience for everyone. This year, WebAIM analyzed one million homepages for accessibility issues and found that 98% of websites had at least one WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) failure on their homepage, such as low-contrast text, missing image alt text, and empty links. These types of accessibility barriers make it difficult or impossible for some visitors — people who are blind, deaf and hard of hearing, and disabled, for example — to use your site.
If you’re looking to boost the search engine optimization (SEO) ranking of your business website, one of the easiest ways to do so is to frequently update your site. Now, this doesn’t mean you need to refresh or change your entire website. Instead, establish a blog as one feature of your site, then, if you can commit to a posting schedule, you guarantee a regular flow of fresh content. The outcome? Higher search results.
If you run a website, you’ve put a lot of effort into making sure that it looks professional. You found the perfect theme and customized it to match your vision. You’ve spent hours lining up your content with an attractive design.
Staying on top of your website health is a key part of being a responsible site owner. That’s why WordPress.com includes a Stats feature in the My Sitesmenu.
Becoming an industry authority can be a major benefit to your blog or business, regardless of what industry you’re in. It shows that you have a high level of knowledge about your field and that others within your line of work trust you. Once you’ve become an authority, you’ll rise above others in your industry and be able to endorse key products or brands. But how do you actually establish that authority? Here are four key steps in the process to help you spread your expertise far and wide.
To maintain a successful online presence, it is imperative to understand search engine optimization (SEO) and how it can increase your site traffic. In particular, for images and SEO, there is an opportunity to attract organic website visitors and, as a result, grow your business. According to research by seoClarity, Google’s algorithm updates for 2019 have made search engine results pages serve up images among the top 10 results. What’s more, almost half the time when images rank in the top 10 results, they’re in the top three.
When people search online for information, they tend to skip over certain page results or titles in favor of others. So, if you want them to arrive at your site in particular, you need to tempt them to click on your headlines. What makes a title click-worthy? In a nutshell, a great headline is not only well-worded, but also includes savvy keywords, a smart description, and perhaps a time-proven hack. Read on for tips on how to write engaging headlines and why it matters.
It’s exciting to see how educators and consultants across different industries are getting creative with their online offerings: language teachers conduct 1:1 sessions to help students hone pronunciation, yoga studios livestream group sessions, and instructors lead writing boot camps via Zoom breakout rooms. Even my own strength coach is monitoring my workouts — I launch the camera on my phone, place it against the wall, and do deadlifts while he supervises.
One of the most popular ways to offer products and services to today’s customers is via subscription-based eCommerce. This business model can adapt to specific user demands but also works for a larger audience. Let’s dig into the details of the subscription-based model, as well as how WordPress.com can support it.
If you’ve ever stayed awake until 2 a.m. to finish an enthralling book, or purchased a product immediately after reading a compelling testimonial, then you understand the power of descriptive language. Contrary to popular belief, it takes more than a good story to keep people hooked on your content. If you want to capture and hold a reader’s attention, you have to activate their imagination. By vividly describing people, places, and events, you can help your readers participate in the experience. This establishes an emotional connection, makes content more memorable, and keeps audiences coming back for more.
What is your business known for? When people see an advertisement or visit your website what do they feel? A recognizable brand helps your company stand out from the competition, creates a connection with customers, and serves as a guiding light for your marketing efforts. To build a brand, you need to do some branding — communicating your brand and eliciting the right emotions in your audience. Your business can use brand guidelines to create consistent experiences across channels, including on your website. Brand consistency on a business website is a challenge when you have a variety of people adding to it regularly. That’s why brand guidelines are a valuable tool. But first, you need to understand your brand.
Before you start developing a plan to grow your audience by marketing your website, you need to understand the market and your place in it. Conducting a competitive analysis — researching what competitors are doing — is an essential step in your business strategy. When you conduct a competitive analysis, you categorize and evaluate your competitors to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and use that to inform your strategy. Then you’ll be able to give customers a reason to choose your business. By looking at your competitors, analyzing how they speak and sell, and monitoring what customers say about them, you’ll also be able to anticipate the market. It will help you to identify trends and build campaigns that engage your audience.
Most website owners know that their blog won’t start generating income right away. Building an online property that generates revenue takes time and persistence. Still, as traffic increases and you develop an audience, it’s natural to start wondering how you can monetize that traffic to start earning money from your online venture.
Site ads are a great option for creating an early revenue stream for your blog, but timing is everything. Here’s how to identify the right time to start monetizing your blogs with advertising.
No matter what you blog about, proofreading your posts is important. If you don’t proofread, there’s a good chance there will be typos, misspellings, and other obvious mistakes in your copy — and readers will notice. Like it or not, these errors cost you credibility. Even search engines care about content quality, explains Search Engine Journal. If you take your work seriously, your audience will, too.
So, with that in mind, how can you develop the painstaking attention to detail that proofreading requires? Here are a few key suggestions for cleaning up your work.

An impressive blog post begins with a compelling hook that piques readers’ interest, then transitions into an information-packed body that keeps them reading. Of course, producing relevant, valuable content that answers your audience’s pressing questions is crucial for building credibility. But beyond that, here are three ways you can show Google that your blog or business is a trustworthy, authoritative source.

Word-of-mouth marketing is one of the best ways to grow your business. You can probably think of a time someone you know and trust recommended a restaurant or a product so you decided to give it a try. In the marketing world, that person is known as a brand advocate. In today’s digital world, many businesses focus predominantly on digital marketing strategies — SEO, social media ads, and paid search, to name a few. However, there’s still value in offline marketing, especially for small businesses.
According to data from Internet Live Stats, there are more than 40,000 search queries performed on Google every second, which equates to several billion searches per day. Think back to a time when you noticed a web address that was miles long and used a complicated string of letters, numbers, and special characters within. This kind of lengthy URL isn’t only hard on the eyes: it can also hurt your search engine ranking.
As a first line of defense, adhere to the following best practices for WordPress login information:
- Frequently change your passwords (seriously, put a reminder in your calendar now)
- Avoid using the admin username (which used to be the default in older WordPress versions and is therefore often targeted first)
- Create a strong password (either via an external service or the password strength meter included in WordPress)
- Oblige other users to do the same with Force Strong Passwords
- Store passwords in a secure place like LastPass
Apart from that, you can further up your login security with the following methods:
- Limit login attempts — Plugins like Login LockDown and Login Security Solution enable you to constrain the number of login attempts from a single IP address within a certain amount of time. Perfect for keeping brute force attacks at bay.
- Employ two-step authentication — Adds a second layer of security that can only be passed by means of your cell phone, social network account or else. Options include Duo Two-Factor Authentication, OpenID, and Clef.
- Hide your login page — Moving wp-admin and wp-login to non-standard addresses makes it harder for hackers to attack them. You can do so via Rename wp-login.php, HideLogin+ or Lockdown WP Admin.
WordPress login protected? Then let’s move on to other things.
Content ideation — the process of coming up with trendy or interesting topics week after week for your blog readers’ pleasure — can be a downright brain drain. Developing a strict routine of idea gathering and brainstorming is commendable, and sometimes even profitable, especially if you don’t want to drop the blogging ball. Here’s how to score great topic ideas to keep your content game strong.
When it comes to your website, first impressions matter. Most visitors to your site will judge your brand or business based on its look and feel — and a strong design will tell them that you care about your online appearance, whereas a bad design will leave the opposite impression. In this post, you’ll learn why good design is important and receive web design tips from WordPress.com team members that will help ensure your website provides your visitors with a good experience.
Can you recall a time when you visited a website that was difficult to navigate? How about a page containing so much text that unearthing relevant information was like finding a needle in a haystack? There’s nothing more frustrating than a poorly designed or structured website. Your site is a valuable piece of online real estate. If you follow certain design principles, it can help you grow a following and retain customers. Get the most out of your online presence by avoiding these common website problems.
It’s easier than ever to find stock images for your website. Simply type a few keywords into a stock image bank and pick the first result, right? Not so fast. When you’re selecting photography, you want to maintain a look and feel that’s true to your brand. The first results in a stock image search might look okay, but you have to consider whether they will fit with the rest of your website. If you’ve ever been tempted to insert cartoon clip art that would look out of place on your sleek, minimalist website, keep reading for basic photo tips and resources that will help you develop a strategy for choosing images that are both on point and on brand.
You work hard to create compelling content. Perhaps you secretly hoped that was enough to pique the interest of readers and encourage social media sharing. Instead, you discover that your site traffic isn’t delivering on your expectations. Why isn’t anyone looking at your content? It’s time to step up your content promotion efforts to attract an audience.
When you’re deliberating between the benefits of a blog vs. website, consider the type of content that will most effectively support your goals. Remember, a blog can be a website, and a website can contain a blog. One of the most compelling reasons to use both in tandem is to optimize your content marketing strategy. This is a marketing practice based on creating and sharing relevant materials like tutorials, social media posts, and other valuable resources. According to The Content Marketing Institute, 91 percent of B2B marketers are using content to promote themselves. A blog is one of the best platforms to deliver valuable information to your target audience. You too can create a content strategy that brings your blog and website together to promote everything that your brand has to offer.
Julia Giles You have a number of things going on here; WordPress updates, backups and a migration from site A to B.
o Start with the backup first using plugin Updraftplus, save the files to your server and offsite (PC if no offsite area).
o Next do your WordPress core update (Home>Updates) to bring WordPress up to date
o followed by your plugins and translations updates. Do the updates one by one in case they fail so you know which one failed and can investigate and fix.
o This will leave your theme updates to do. For your live theme, check out the changes that will be applied by researching the theme developers update info so you know what will change. Also note any changes you have made to the theme files as these will be overwritten during the theme update. When you have updated your live theme, reapply your changes to the code and test the website to ensure it still functions and looks the same. Fix any issues.
Btw, a child theme should be used rather than editing themes but life isn’t always so black and white.
o Once you are all up-to-date, take another backup with Updraftplus.
o Migrate the site using the pro version of Updraftplus or a free plugin such as Duplicator.
